Keep the Hobby Alive

Its up to you and me as Radio Amateurs to keep the Amateur Radio Hobby alive. As Radio Amateurs, you need to do your part and promote the hobby in your local churchs, schools, clubs and workplace. We especially need to make Ham Radio visible to our young people. There is a lot of competition out there with the internet, cell phones, pagers, video games etc., but all you have to do is tell your story, put a set of headphone on them and the bug just might bite them.

HCARS MOVES TO NEW MEETING LOCATION

A big thank you goes out to Huntington Countys new sheriff, Kent Farthing. Sheriff Farthing has given HCARS the green light to meet at the Huntington County Jail every 4th Monday of month, for the rest of 2003. The meeting will be held on the second floor in Training Room 1; the elevator will be operational. The meeting time, as always, is 7:00 PM. The Sheriff recommends that we use the east parking lot or State Street for parking.

This year we will be trying very hard to be sure we have a guest speaker at every HCARS monthly meeting. Februarys guest speaker will be Sheriff Kent Farthing. The topic will be Sheriff Farthings telling his plans for the department and HCARS membership will explain what it has to offer to the Sheriffs Department. Hope to see you there for an interesting evening.

HCARS 2 METER NET STILL  ALIVE

Tune in every Saturday evening at 8:00 PM local time for the HCARS 2 Meter Phone Net on 146.685 (-.600).  Get the latest news of what is going on locally and after the check in portion of the net is complete, HCARS airs News Line  Ham Radio News from around the world. Hope to hear you on net. 73
